Charles Hebert creates softly textured, layered paintings in oil on hand stretched canvas. He usually has several paintings on the go, which develop at their own pace. His paintings reflect his surroundings, music is always in the background and since moving to Sydney he finds his paintings have become more vibrant.
With a French Canadian background (b. 1970), Charles has lived and travelled to many places such as Germany; Italy; South Africa; Canada; USA; Russia and Finland. Charles is extremely passionate about his art. He has been painting for over ten years and received private lessons from Guy Leclair, an American impressionist artist.
His developed style is highly sought after by those who appreciate his technically complex, yet soothing artworks.
Artist Statement
Emotions that are derived from looking at art are extremely important to me. I paint from my heart. The experiences which I've lived through are expressed within each of my paintings. I use colours both soft and vibrant to tell the stories of my past. I begin a painting with a form in mind and then let my thoughts and imagination carry me to the end. The places, the land, the objects that I relate to are always seen throughout my paintings. Creating art allows me to glance into a portion of my past which I find extremely therapeutic.
I hope my art evokes a positive emotion within you.
