Artworks available to view in Sydney
I try to capture the emotional expressions of life’s experiences, first in clay. I concentrate on human subjects and relationships; from extreme joy to deep grief. My work is then transformed into bronze, marble, resin, aluminum, chrome and other mediums.
Sculpture, for me, has always been about the tactile. Wanting to connect with the sculptures I create by "touch", rather than just a visual appreciation of the work, is extremely important to me. I think that the desire to touch a sculpture indicates a much deeper, and a more primal response to art. Music, like some sculpture, is the other, non-visual, side of art to me. I also draw and my figure drawing informs my sculptures.
Professionally, I worked as an economist, teaching at three major Sydney universities for over 10 years. After which I became a senior economist in the NSW Parliament as part of the Economic Secretariat. However, I was always keen to explore my artistic side and took up sculpting when my children were quite young. This turned from a hobby into a keen professional interest when I joined the Sculptors Society in 1992
