Jan Stapleton is a contemporary artist whose beautiful textured acrylic and oil landscapes and mixed media figurative works have been exhibited in high profile Sydney commercial galleries and Hazelhurst Regional Gallery over the past 20 years.
Jan Stapleton is a professional artist who has been exhibiting extensively in Sydney galleries since 1985. Born in 1950 she graduated in Science and Biotechnology from Sydney and UNSW and worked as a medical microbiologist. A move to the Bathurst/Orange region in 1983-1984 enabled her to pursue her passion for painting and had a lasting influence on her work. During following years she attended workshops and master classes with many prominent Sydney artists such as Judith White, Ian Chapman, Patrick Carroll, David Wilson, Pam Cowper, Elisabeth Cummings, John Peart, David Fairbairn, Jenny Sages and Aida Tomenescu.
The artist works predominantly in acrylic, mixed media and oil. Themes of women from earlier works are developed into more universal/ mythological female images. Landscape themes are also explored in a more experimental and poetic manner. Current paintings explore the interface of spiritual connections with nature and the landscape. She is represented in numerous private collections in Australia and overseas and recent works have been selected for major survey exhibitions at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery NSW.
