Artworks available to view in Sydney
Keren Sawicki is a successful Sydney painter whose paintings are help in private collections in Australia and the UK. She has a professional background as a Landscape Architect. Following many years in the industry she realised that her passion was found in the creative and artistic aspects rather than the technical side of the profession.
Always motivated by design, composition and visual art, Keren began formal painting classes in 2003.
Over the past 20 years, she has found great pleasure in experimenting with mixed media, sketching landscapes, figures and everyday objects with pencil and charcoal. Over the years she has undertaken various courses in life drawing, ceramics, sculpture and photography.
Currently exploring oils as a medium and enjoying the versatility, textured nature and colour diversity, she is working on a series of abstract still life paintings. Her last series entitled “seascapes” feature Sydney Harbour and bays and the Akuna Bay Area, north of Sydney.
Adventures throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East have given her incredible inspiration for diversity in texture, colour and shape. The Portuguese coastline (the Algarve in particular) has had a profound influence on much of her work over the past few years.
Keren’s paintings are highly textured and have a tactile quality. Her works vary in size, many suitable for corporate spaces, however also suit any classic or contemporary home.
“I think anyone looking at one of my paintings is drawn in by the textures and warm hues, I like to use a palette that people can relate to, hues that evoke feelings of familiarity. I enjoy the depth that can be created using oils, the layers that create shadows and shapes, bring the work to life.....
…..Although often abstract, most people respond to something recognizable in the images, something they relate to.”
“The way an object or image begins as just a dent in some clay or a mark on a page, then transforms into appreciable form and shape has always been a simple fascination.”
- Keren Sawicki
Following a successful exhibition recently at Art Melbourne, Keren has been heads down brush up working on commissions and her abstract still life series.
